Les Skramstad will be posthumously honored by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO). ADAO recently announced that Les will be honored with the Alan Reinstein Memorial Award on March 31, the 3rd Annual Asbestos Awareness Day Conference in Philadelphia for his tenacious commitment to justice and asbestos disease awareness.
Lester Lewis "Les" Skramstad, a longtime resident of the Kootenai Valley, left this world for ever on Jan 21, 2007 after diagnosed with mesothelioma. He had worked for 3 years as a sweeper for a vermiculite mine in Libby, Montana. Despite the devastating effects of his disease, Les remained a diligent and candid advocate for asbestos victims. Les, the honest and soft-hearted gentleman who always wanted to be a cowboy, continued to be a beacon of hope and truth for nearly fifty years.
The Executive Director and Cofounder of Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization Linda Reinstein said that they are pleased to honor Les Skramstad with the Alan Reinstein Memorial Award. "Les not only fought a deadly asbestos disease, but also worked for decades to raise awareness about its dangers. We will always remember him as we continue our fight to prevent diseases caused by deadly asbestos fibers," she said.
